Training update

We are excited to announce the launch of our new, foundational training programme for all Advance Union representatives.

These online modules will provide you with the core knowledge to excel in your role, which is our top priority. This will help ensure we offer a consistent and high-quality standard of representation for all our members. It is a requirement that every representative, from the General Secretary down, completes these two mandatory online modules.

This essential training has been designed for maximum flexibility. You can access and complete both modules on any of your personal devices – phone, laptop, or tablet – through the Coursebox app or website – details will be sent to you next month when we will formally launch the training.

The two mandatory modules are:

  1. Understanding Your Role as a  Workplace Representative This short course is designed for new workplace representatives of Advance Union, focusing on the values and principles that define our organisation. Participants will learn about the essential functions of the union, their responsibilities, and how to effectively collaborate with Santander. We will cover the varied roles and accountabilities of different representatives, helping to ensure that all members are represented fairly and effectively in the workplace
  1. All about Advance Union This course provides an in-depth exploration of Advance Union, focusing on our core values, organisational structure, operational model, and support framework. Union representatives will gain valuable insights into how Advance Union functions, equipping them with the knowledge to effectively advocate for members and promote solidarity. By understanding our mission and operational strategies, participants will be better prepared to support their colleagues and enhance the effectiveness of our union activities.

Completing these modules is a crucial step in our renewed strategy. They will provide you with the solid foundation needed before we roll out more specific, topic-based training in 2026 as well as more access to Trade Union Congress training to complement our in house training.

More details on how to access the training will be supplied when the training goes live in early November.
