Looking Back, Moving Forward

Reflections on 2025 and growing together in 2026

As another year draws to a close, it’s natural to pause and reflect. 2025 has been a year of change, sometimes subtle, sometimes challenging but always shaped by the people at the heart of Advance.

It’s been a year of conversations, questions, and moments where we’ve had to stop, listen, and decide how we move forward together.

For many reps, 2025 wasn’t about big headlines or dramatic wins. It was about the everyday work: checking in with members, raising concerns, attending meetings, and making sure voices didn’t get lost along the way. It was about showing up even when diaries were full, energy was low, or the answers weren’t immediately clear. And that work matters more than it’s often given credit for.

Looking back, one of the strongest themes of 2025 has been connection. Engagement hasn’t always meant packed meetings or long email chains. Sometimes it’s been a quiet Teams message, a one-to-one conversation, or someone saying, “Thanks I just needed to be heard.” Those moments are easy to overlook, they can make the difference between a tough day and a good day but they are the foundations that Advance is built on.

Of course, engagement isn’t without its challenges. We’ve all felt times when participation dips, when it’s harder to encourage involvement, or when people feel unsure about stepping forward. But 2025 reminded us that engagement grows when people feel welcome, informed, and confident that their voice will be respected not just listened to, but genuinely valued.

As we look ahead to 2026, there’s a real opportunity for growth. Growth doesn’t just mean numbers; it means confidence, capability, and connection. It’s about creating more spaces for members to get involved in ways that suit them whether that’s speaking up in meetings, feeding back through reps, or simply knowing where to turn when they need support.

For reps, moving into 2026 is about continuing to build trust and visibility. It’s about reaching out, starting conversations, and sometimes just asking, “How are things for you right now?” It’s about encouraging new voices, supporting those who are finding their feet, and remembering that everyone’s journey with Advance looks a little different.

The strength of Advance has always been its members and reps working together with shared purpose. As we step into 2026, the focus remains the same: listening, learning, and growing together. Because when engagement grows, confidence grows. And when confidence grows, so does our collective ‘informed voice’.

Looking forward, the aim isn’t perfection. It’s progress. One conversation, one connection, one voice at a time.
