Advance Union is strongest when we stand together. Every new member strengthens our collective voice, increases our influence, and helps ensure colleagues have support when they need it most.

That’s why we’re asking every member to speak to colleagues in their team, branch or site about the benefits of joining our Union community.

The reality is that sometimes people only think about joining a union when a problem arises. By then, there may be limits on the support available (if at all) under the rules you agreed as a collective.  Just like car insurance, you can’t take out cover after the accident has happened and expect protection for that event. The same principle applies to union membership. The best protection comes from having it in place before you need it.

By encouraging colleagues to join early and maintain their membership, you’re helping them put protection in place for the future while becoming part of a supportive community that stands together to improve working lives.

Your Challenge

  1. Think of three colleagues in your branch, department or site who are not yet members.
  2. Start a conversation this week. Explain the benefits of joining early, becoming part of our community, and having protection in place before it’s needed.
  3. Help a colleague. Strengthen our Union. Earn £10 for every new member you recruit; just ask them to quote your name or E number when they join.
