Election of the National Executive Committee member for Senior Professionals
Notice of By-Election: National Executive Committee Position for Senior Professionals
Due to recent changes agreed by our governing body, a by-election will be held to fill the newly created position of National Executive Committee Member for Senior Professionals. Advance Union recognizes the importance of diverse representation within its leadership and seeks to ensure that the voices of senior-grade employees (broadly defined as grades S3-S5 across the Santander Group in the United Kingdom) are fairly represented.
Role and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will join the National Executive Committee and contribute to representing the interests of senior professionals within the union. This involves attending National Executive meetings, which typically require a time commitment of 4 to 10 days annually (time off is granted by Santander). Most meetings are currently conducted remotely.
Eligibility and Nomination Process
To be eligible to stand for election, candidates must:
- Have been an Advance Union member for at least 12 months.
- Be employed within Advance Union’s bargaining group.
- Secure nomination by one eligible member, seconded by four others from at least three separate areas.
Application Process
Electronic applications can be submitted online from today until 31 December 2024, at 12:00 noon by completing the link here.
Election Procedures
If more than one candidate comes forward, a two-week election period will commence. During this time, candidates will have the opportunity to prepare an election address for AU to share with eligible members, which Advance Union will publish. An independent scrutineer will be appointed to oversee the election process.
