FAQ’s

What can I appeal against?
You can only appeal against the rating descriptor (e.g., “Under Performance,” “Good Performance,” “Exceptional Performance”). However, if your appeal is successful, the numerical score may also change, which can impact bonuses.

When is the appeal window open?
The appeal submission window is 8th to 22nd January. Appeals submitted outside this timeframe will not be considered.

Who reviews my appeal?
An independent manager outside your reporting line will review your case to ensure impartiality. They will consider all evidence and provide a written decision.

How long does the appeal process take?
After submission, your appeal will be acknowledged within 10 working days, and a hearing will be scheduled. The full process may take several weeks, depending on diary availability.

Will appealing affect my bonus?
Yes. If your numerical score changes as a result of the appeal, this will impact your bonus. However, you will not know the exact bonus impact until after the appeal process concludes.

 What evidence should I provide?
Provide as much supporting documentation as possible—performance records, emails, diaries, or examples of achievements. The stronger your evidence, the better your chances.

Can I get help with my appeal?
Yes. Contact the Union Office in the first instance and a caseworker will be assigned to you who will assist you in preparing and presenting your case.

What if my manager has left the company?
The appeal chair will not contact former employees. Your appeal will be assessed based on available documentation and your evidence.

What if I wasn’t given clear objectives at the start of the year?
If objectives were not communicated, this is a valid ground for appeal. You cannot be fairly assessed against goals you were unaware of.

How do I submit my appeal?
You must submit your appeal via Workday under the Performance Rating Appeal section. Include all necessary documentation and notify your manager that you intend to appeal.

Can I add more evidence after submitting my appeal?
Yes. If you cannot gather all the evidence before the deadline, submit your appeal within the window and note that additional documents will follow. These can be submitted before the hearing.
